Garden nights Merano - The ultimate in World Music

This open-air concert series – which has become one of northern Italy’s most important festivals of world music – takes place in the natural amphitheatre of the Gardens, an impressive acoustic space for the finest in world music. Paralleling the theme of “Plants from Around the World”, five performers from around the world will enchant audiences and broaden our musical horizons.

25th Südtirol Classic Festival - Merano Music Weeks
from 24th August till 27th September 2010

A quarter century ago, the Merano Music Festival was founded as a chamber music event. Today, the festival calendar comprises three concert series: the symphonic program in the
Kursaal, chamber music in the Pavillon des Fleurs (“Matineé Classique”), and the crossover projects in the Stadttheater (“Colours of Music”). The anniversary program shows proof of
its outstanding level, having provided the highest quality for 25 years. On August 24, The Cleveland Orchestra under Franz Welser Möst will open the festival. The Artist in Residence
is pianist Fazil Say, who may be heard this autumn in Merano four times: on September 14, 16, and 18 with violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and on September 15 as a part of a “Turkish
Night”.

S. Martino's village festival

A whole village celbrates! S. Martino's village associations invite you to the 23nd S. Martino Village Festival on 11th and 12th September. The two days offer plenty of food andrink, fun and dancing with international folk music groups. For the young and young at heart!

Merano Grand Prix Steeplechase
26th September 2010

The 5000 metre (25 furlong) steeplechase on the Merano flat race course at Maia Bassa/Untermais is a highlight of the horse racing season and is combined with the Italian national lottery. The annual Merano Grand Prix steeplechase has been captivating racing enthusiasts since 1935. There may be more famous racing events with higher prizes, but the each year Meran Forst steeplechase generates enormous enthusiasm and is especially dearly held among owners, trainers and jockeys.

16th Autumnal music festival - Grape Festival

Merano WineFestival & Gourmet

The Merano International Wine Festival takes place in the sumptuous halls of the art nouveau style Kurhaus. The annual event has become one of the most prestigious of its kind world-wide, providing an opportunity for wine enthusiasts to taste and discuss a wide selection of Europe’s finest wines directly with their producers.
It is accompanied by a gastronomic festival titled “Culinaria”, where epicures can savour choice and authentic food products from Italy’s diverse regions.

"Advent" and Christmas Fair - Christmasmarket

The Meraner Advent: with its Christmas Market has the special Christmas atmosphere that you find only in the Alps.
In front of the romantic spa buildings on the Passer Promenade, bright with festive decorations, you can visit stalls offering local crafts and traditional regional culinary specialities. There is also a varied supporting programme with music (including choirs), theatrical performances and displays of traditional customs. Children can enjoy a super animation programme – so that they are not too impatient waiting for Father Christmas.
