Merano Alpine Path

Merano Alpine Path

The Merano Alpine Path is a hiking path surrounding the entire mountain massif of the Tessa Group Nature Park. If you do the entire Alpine Path you get to know the Passiria Valley, the Merano valley basin, the Senales Valley, and you cross the Adige Valley to the Venosta Valley.

You hike through forests and meadows at different altitudes and get to know the vegetation which is typical for this region. The southern part of the Merano Alpine Path is mostly at the same height; you hike below the treeline, but sometimes you have to conquer several hundred metres of difference in altitude.

If you hike more to the north you hike in high alpine terrain and reach a height of almost 3,000 metres above sea level. The lowest point of the Merano Alpine Path can be found in the Passiria Valley in the Valclava Valley at only 840 metres. The opposite is the Passo Gelato in Senales where you are almost at 3,000 metres above sea level.

In total the Merano Alpine Path has a length of 100km and can be done in about 4-6 day tours of 6-8 hours. Along the path you'll find numerous guesthouses and huts where you can eat and sleep.
