| Törggelen |
"Törggelen" in Val PassiriaThe term "Törggelen" comes from the Italian word "torquere" which describes the pressing of grapes. It was always the way that once the grapes were ripe, you visited the neighbours in order to taste the new wine. Usually "Törggelen" is combined with an autumn hike. After the hike you stop in at a guesthouse in order to eat Passiria bacon, brittle bread, sausages, cabbage and ribs. Afterwards you get chestnuts and Tyrolean "Krapfen" (doughnuts), and of course everything is accompanied by "Suser", the fresh wine. The meal is rounded off with a good glass of schnapps – you will simply love this old tradition. |
